AUSTRALIAN TAPESTRY WORKSHOP ARTIST IN RESIDENCE PROGRAM

atw1

During my week at the A.T.W Helen Smith and Lauren Cruikshank were Artists in Residence. Both performing artists it was wonderful to see their response to materials and equipment. Draping themselves in yarns and contorting their bodies through the warps on the loom. I know these are not the best of photos but they were taken quickly with my phone. There is an album on the A.T.W Facebook page here.

Applications for next year’s Artist in Residence program are still open, but the closing date is November 30, 2012. You can find the details here. There are some podcasts you can download here from previous artists talking about their experience at the workshop. Kristin Sæterdal from Norway is Artist in Residence this week. A few of the students in the master class met Kristin in Canberra during the International Tapestry Symposium. I bet that she is having a wonderful week!
